Companies to Join Forces to Improve Access to Eyecare for Patients Across France
TOKYO, JAPAN, JULY, 2024 – Topcon Healthcare, a leading provider of medical devices and software solutions for the global eye care community, is pleased to announce its partnership with TESSAN, the French innovative leader in medical teleconsultation solutions. The partnership offers eye care practitioners and their patients a teleconsultation service that allows eye exams to be performed remotely.
An aging population and rise in visual pathologies in France have increased patients' demands and expectations on the eye care sector for faster and more efficient access to services. This new partnership gives patients access to care in less than a week, including diagnosis and referrals, prescriptions, glasses or contact lens prescriptions, and screening for pathologies such as glaucoma, AMD, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts.
The partnership delivers next-generation teleconsultation solutions using Topcon’s state-of-the-art diagnostic technology that will benefit both healthcare professionals and patients by:

● Delivering eye care in remote areas with limited access
● Patients in remote locations can now have the same quality of care as those in metropolitan areas

Using Topcon devices and TESSAN’s teleconsultation solution, the patient examination is remotely controlled by an orthoptist, followed by an ophthalmologist, who guides the patient through the visual test, including pachymetry, tonometry, retinography, objective and subjective refraction. Patients are also routinely screened for eye diseases, such as AMD, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and cataracts.
