Credit Controller/General Administrator

We have a vacancy for a Credit Controller/General Administrator for the Eyecare Division.  This position is based in Newbury and will report directly to the Finance Team at Topcon Europe.

The successful applicant will be responsible for proactively managing the Branch accounts receivable ledger in the UK; collect debt and maintain the debtor days to an acceptable level and to Group targets, ensuring all Company policies and procedures are adhered to; review invoice requests prior to their release to Finance and to provide general administrative support to the Sales Office Manager and admin team.

They will regularly liaise with sales personnel, and finance companies.  To resolve outstanding customer account queries, raise credit requests forms as necessary.  Respond to and satisfactorily resolve external and internal queries.  Collate all information relating to potential bad debt, dealing with bankrupt companies.  Liaising with Receivers, Liquidators and Administrators.

The ideal candidate needs to have experience working in a credit control position preferably for more than 5 years.  Good relationship building and customer service skills, be competent with MS office and Excel spreadsheets.  Good analytical and problem-solving skills.  Good attention to detail is essential. Have strong verbal and written communication skills.  They need to have a methodical and logical approach to work and confident time management skills and be able to organise and prioritise their workload.  The individual needs to be able to work under their own initiative as well as work as part of a team.

It would be advantageous if the candidate has experience of working with SAP By Design and has a knowledge of J-SOX reporting procedures.

We are looking for someone that can be flexible with the hours of work especially at month end and year-end when it may be necessary to work longer hours.

Service Co-ordinator


Reporting to the UK Service Manager, you will provide administrative support within the customer service team, maintain a good working relationship and work closely with our Service Engineers, Veritek (Topcon’s third-party service provider), customers, and other departments within Topcon.

This is an Office based role in Newbury, so you will need to be able to travel to Newbury on a daily basis.

Hours: 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week).

Key responsibilities:

  • Allocating service work and call-out requests to the appropriate. engineers, recording accurate service records, and preparing reports upon request. 
  • Dealing with queries regarding engineers' visits and all non-technical matters relating to the general running of the service department. 


  • Customer focussed with good communication skills,
  • Have an excellent eye for detail, as accuracy is paramount. 
  • Able to work in a very busy and demanding environment.


  • Previous experience working as a Service Administrator.
  • Competent in the use of MS Office skills; Word and Excel and be able to coordinate diaries and set up appointments for Field Service Engineers in Outlook. 
  • You will be working on the Company management systems HANSA/SAP/ASTEA and previous experience in using SAP would be advantageous.
